Laura Wilkie

Laura joined the morning show in December of 2004.  She is quite an accomplished  country singer and that's probably why she sought out an internship with us.  She probably figured that we have clout in Nashville and could open some doors for her.  Yeah right!!!

She graduated from the Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts and Cockroach Exterminators in Southfield during the summer of 2005 and then continued with the Dr. Don morning show as a Specs apprentice but not the Donald Trump kind of apprenticeship.  Apprentices on the tv show have it easy compared to the grind on the Dr. Don Show!

Laura has made history at WYCD.  She is the longest serving intern ever.  Who would have guessed that she would have lasted that long without at least a partial breakdown?  And talk about experiencing change - Laura has worked for two morning shows, experienced two general managers, and two program directors.  But that's the way it is in the radio biz.

We are really going to miss her smiling face.  Looking ahead to the future, Laura says she would like to eventually manage a White Castle fast food outlet but if that doesn't work out, she can always fall back on her amazing skills as a fire eater.

If you'd like to keep up with her musical exploits, she has a nice web site at:  http://laurawilkie.com .

All the best to you, Laura!  Keep in touch and if you land that gig at White Castle, can we have free slyders?
